The Fly Rod Shop in Stowe, Vermont offers fly fishing’s best products and gear, as well as Vermont’s premier fly fishing guide service.
The Fly Rod Shop offers half and full day Fly Fishing Instructional tours year-round (ice fishing in winter). Their experienced guides will take you and your family or friends out for four or eight hours of private fly fishing. Call for more information, or to book a spot for one of these tours. Free fly fishing clinics are also offered at the shop.

Free Casting Clinic (May-September)
Are you thinking about picking up fly fishing, or has it just been a few years since your last cast? Either way, the FREE casting clinics offered here at The Fly Rod Shop will prepare you to get out on the river this fishing season. The class will start off inside the shop where you will learn about the different equipment, the flies, and the basic anatomy of a stream. Before long we will step outside onto The Fly Rod Shop pond and learn both the false cast, and the roll cast. As you are learning the needed techniques our experienced staff will be walking around the pond to help you learn to make the perfect cast. The Free Casting Clinics Run Wednesday Afternoons from 4-5:30 p.m. and Saturday Mornings from 9 – 10:30 a.m.
Instructional Fly Fishing Tours (April – October)
Our most popular program here at The Fly Rod Shop is our instructional fly fishing tours. This program will start off here at the shop where you will be fitted for boots and waders if you don’t already have them, and beginners will have a short casting lesson on our trout pond to learn both the roll cast and false cast. One of our experienced guides will then take you to one of our many fishing spots where you will learn the techniques as you fish! Your guide will show you how and where to make the perfect cast, how to mend the line, how to get a great drift, and most importantly, where to find the fish! $200.00 – 1 Person, $340.00 – 2 People, $390.00 – 3 People, $440.00 – 4 People
Family Gone Fishing (June – October)
Join us for a fishing trip the whole family will love! This 3 hour fishing program will teach children and adults the basics of fishing while catching a variety of panfish, warm water and cold water species of fish! $49 Per Person

Fall Foliage Boat Tours (September 17 – October 19)
If you’re looking for a unique fall foliage experience, this is the trip for you. One of our guides will motor you along the beautiful, serene Waterbury Reservoir. The Fall Foliage Scenic Boat charters have a lot to offer. The Waterbury Reservoir is settled between two mountain ranges offering extraordinary fall foliage views.

Junior Fishing Program (June 25 – August 13)
One of the programs offered at The Fly Rod Shop for young anglers is the Junior Fishing Program. Parents, if your child enjoys fishing but it just isn’t your thing, or you are tired of doing all the work for them, by the end of this class the students will have the knowledge needed to fish for themselves! This 3 hour class includes time both in the classroom, and outside on The Fly Rod Shop pond

Ice Fishing Tours
We can’t make it through the winter without fishing, so why not join us for a great winter experience? Try your luck with tip-ups and jigging for fish on some of Vermont’s most scenic lakes with our guided instructional ice fishing tours. Throughout the winter we target many different species of fish in many different bodies of water. These species include Northern Pike, Landlocked Salmon and Lake Trout. We will also pursue many other types of fish, including Brown and Rainbow Trout, Yellow Perch and many more. These will be targeted both by jigging and by the use of tip-ups.
