Stowe Winter Carnival

The 45th Stowe Winter Carnival celebrates the 2019 winter season, as we highlight many reasons why people visit our winter wonderland of Stowe! From January 25 – 27, 2019, Stowe shines with over 20 major activities for both young and old, from zany sports events, Ice Carving Competitions, ski movies, Kids Carnival Kaos and the infamous Snowgolf and Snowvolleyball tournaments.

Tour the town, while watching Professional Ice Carvers create elegant and masterful Ice carvings throughout the village on Demonstration Day, Friday, January 25 and experience the 19th Annual NICA sanctioned Ice Carving Competition on Saturday, January 26 in town at The Alchemist Brewery, 100 Cottage Club Rd., Stowe.

Tourists and locals alike participate in such zany events such as our infamous Snowvolleyball Tournament, Snowgolf Competition and Kids Carnival Kaos. Click here for full schedule of events.

Townwide Ice Carving Demonstration Day & Ice Carving Stroll
Professional Ice Carvers carve their masterpieces in front of local business and hotel sponsors on Main Street, Mountain Road and surrounding Stowe areas. Marvel at the ice carvings while enjoying food and drink specials at local restaurants and boutique shopping!

  • 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Main Street Demonstrations
  • 1 – 6 p.m.: Mountain Road Demonstrations

“Fire and Ice” Interactive Display
Professional Ice Carver, Erik Freay, entertains the crowd at the Hob Knob Inn, Bar & Lounge. Lighting will take place at 6 p.m.

Youth Ice Fishing Derby
Hosted at Commodores Inn, this Ice Fishing Derby is sponsored by Stowe Parks & Recreation. Awards given for longest, shortest and most fish caught. Fishing holes, bait and equipment provided. Pre-Registration at event. Ages 1-14.

19th Annual Nationally Sanctioned Ice Carving Competition
Don’t miss this exciting Professional Ice Carving competition, hosted by The Alchemist Brewery. This year’s competition theme is “Outer Space.” Vote in the People’s Choice for your favorite ice sculpture! Learn more about Ice Carving.
