Austrian Wine Tasting
Back to Trapp Family Lodge
Join Trapp Family Lodge in their Wine Cellar for an Austrian Wines Tasting from Hopler Winery on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
The Von Trapp family has a long history with the Hopler winery in Austria. For over thirty years Hopler has bottled their Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir with the Trapp Family crest on the label, a proprietary labeling. Austrian wines are becoming more popular across a broad spectrum of American restaurants and fine wine shops. We’ll taste a Pinot Blanc; this grape is also popular across the border in Alsace, France, a Gruner Veltliner; the signature white grape of Austria, a Riesling; much drier than the German versions you may be familiar with, a Pinot Noir; a grape Austria has received good press about recently and a Zweigelt; the most popular red grape in Austria which is a cross of the Blaufrankisch and Saint-Laurent grapes.
Price is $20. Please call or see the front desk to place reservations at (802) 253-5742. Doors open at 4 p.m. They suggest you arrive no later than 5 p.m. to avoid feeling rushed. People come and go during the tasting which is an informal walk around format. The event ends at 6 p.m.
