Stowe Mountain Resort, in Stowe, Vermont, with 48 ski trails and 13 lifts, has been an internationally acclaimed four-season resort area since the 1940's. A gondola now connects 4,395' Mount Mansfield with Spruce Peak. Opening in December 2007 is the Stowe Mountain Lodge, the east's first slopeside five-star luxury hotel and spa.

In winter, skiers and snowboarders come from around the world to experience Mt. Mansfield's storied terrain. Stowe also offers sleigh- and dogsledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and ice skating. Stowe is especially famous as one of North America's premier cross country skiing destinations, with hundreds of kilometers of groomed and backcountry trails.
