Carriage and Wagon Rides in Stowe

A carriage or wagon ride in Stowe is a wonderful outing that everyone will remember! In Stowe, we have two great options for enjoying this activity—Gentle Giants on the Mountain Road, and Sterling Mountain Farm at Trapp Family Lodge.

Trapp Family Lodge Horse-drawn Wagon & Carriage Rides:

Experience an old-fashioned, scenic wagon ride over our meadows with our resident team of horses, Burt and Rex, driven by Deb Ravenelle of Sterling Mountain Farm.

Please call the HORSEDRAWN HOTLINE daily at 802-253-5895
to make sure we are operating the day of the ride.
Please make payments to the driver directly, and meet past the main lodge on left side of the road.

Gentle Giants:

Meet our Gentle Giants, Justin, Mack, Jack, Donny, and Tom. The largest Justin weighs 2200 pounds! These gentle Percheron and Belgian draft horses will take you on an unforgettable journey back in time.

Choose one of five vehicles with beautiful old fashioned spindled wheels. Enjoy a ride in our new Elegant Victorian or Surrey Carriages, both for romantic couples rides! Our beautiful Vis-A-Vis four passenger carriage, white with luxurious red seats. This is a great wedding carriage! All carriages have convertible tops in case of light rain. If a wagon ride is what you're looking for, we offer two candy apple red 6 passenger and 12 passenger wagons for families and groups.

Our scenic ride begins through a charming covered bridge onto a winding wooded trail along an open brook, then out into a meadow trail with spectacular views of Mt. Mansfield—Vermont's highest peak. We will then make our way back to trail’s end. You will have experienced a part of Vermont's past, a pleasurable memory that will last forever! Featured and recommended by Yankee Magazine and Boca Raton Magazine.
