The British Invasion

September 18th through the 21st: New England's largest all British classic and sports car show plus British cultural activities, shops, crafts, Auto Jumble and Car Corral. The British Invasion has evolved to become one of the Top Ten Events in Vermont. The participants are primarily from the US and Canada with over 600 cars on field, and approximately 1000 total. This event is "A Four Day Celebration and Salutation to the Great British Motorcar and all manner of other things British." BRITISH INVASION WEB SITE A British lifestyle event which started "over a pint of ale" in Stowe, Vermont, in 1990. A four day event starting the third Saturday in September every year, to include "all things British", with primary focus on classic British motorcars.

The seasons in Stowe are pure magic, thanks to a spellbinding pair of attractions no other Eastern destination can match: our matchless village and majestic Mt. Mansfield. Stowe is over 200 years old and has been hosting visitors for most of that history. Mt. Mansfield, Vermont 's highest peak, imbues Stowe with a unique character truly reminiscent of great resorts in the Alps.

Stowe's diversions and activities are as varied and exciting as its lodging and dining. The resort is justifiably world-famous for Mt. Mansfield 's downhill skiing. Stowe is also arguably North America 's finest cross country skiing destination, with hundreds of kilometers of interconnected groomed and backcountry trails. And as if that were not enough, Stowe -- home of Tubbs Snowshoes -- is the birthplace of modern snow-shoeing. There's even dog sledding and snow-mobiling!

Though Stowe enjoys an international reputation as a winter destination, it is just as exciting in summer. Sparkling streams attract anglers, splashers, and paddlers. Horseback riders gallop through wildflower strewn meadows. Bikers and hikers take to the Recreation Path and to more challenging mountain trails as well. Stowe's golf and tennis offer challenges for newcomer and old pro alike.

Autumn in Stowe deserves special mention. Vermont is world-famous for its spectacular fall foliage, and Stowe is Vermont 's most beautiful and dramatic fall foliage viewing venue.
