Stowe kids say:
Night skiing at the gondola is very cool. It opens at 5 p.m. but once it gets dark, you can only ski that one trail. There are usually no lines!
Vermont has 106 covered bridges that go across rivers and streams including the covered bridge that you can walk through by the Main Street/Mountain Road intersection in Stowe. The bridges were covered to protect them—not the people who used them—from bad weather. It was a lot easier to replace the covering than the entire bridge.
People who live here say Emily’s Bridge in Stowe Hollow is haunted. Emily was a young Stowe girl in the 1840s who was forbidden to marry her love. The couple planned to meet at the bridge and elope, but the boy never showed up. Emily supposedly killed herself that night and her ghost has haunted the bridge ever since.
