VERMONT CULINARY CLASSIC RETURNS TO STOWE JUNE 13- 22, 2008

Stowe, VT (April9, 2008) – Gastronomical adventures will abound in Stowe, Vermont from June 13-22 as the Vermont Culinary Classic at Stowe returns for the second year. Building on the highly successful 2007 “Classic,” this 10-day event will feature festivities that exult the bounty of spring and Vermont’s rich culinary heritage.

Special lodging packages are available beginning at $63 (plus tax and any service charges) per room, per night, double occupancy, and include a Culinary Bounty Gift Basket. To book your lodging package visit www.gostowe.com and enter code word “culinary” or call 1-800-GOSTOWE.COM and our Central Reservations will be happy to help you.

Highlighting the calendar is the Bounty Festival on Saturday, June 15 at Stowe Mountain Resort, bringing together dozens of area restaurants, artisans, farmers and food-related purveyors. This year’s Festival line-up promises tastings, an Iron Skillet-style cooking competition; wild edibles walking tour; chef-hosted seminars; a pancake eating contest; live music, and much more. The Bounty Festival Kids’ Area is newly expanded and includes a petting zoo; music & movement; story time focusing on eating fresh and local, an all-ages musical show by The Re-Bops and much more. A portion of the proceeds from this event benefits local children’s charities that promote healthy eating.

Broaden your culinary adventures during this 10-day celebration by taking part in special events given by many of Stowe's forty award-winning restaurants. Foodie experiences will be extensive, from meet-the-chef engagements to interactive how-to classes on cooking, grilling, baking and pizza tossing, to dinners featuring indigenous ingredients. Tours of Vermont farms, wineries and foraging walks will be presented, giving food-loving visitors a true taste of the vast wealth of this New England state’s natural resources.

The weekend of June 20-22, the renowned Trapp Family Lodge (of Sound of Music fame) hosts The 10th Annual Stowe Wine & Food Classic, a premier multi-day extravaganza featuring a gala dinner, wine tasting, and auction, to benefit Copley Hospital Foundation of Morrisville, Vermont.

As Vermont Hospitality Council’s Vermont Chef of the Year Michael Kloeti, owner of Michael’s on the Hill states, “I feel blessed to live in a community that offers such a wonderful bounty of food artisans and farmers! It nurtures my passion for food and makes my job extremely fulfilling.”
