WINTER IN STOWE VERMONT’S GOT THE WOW FACTOR
Testimony to Best Winter Conditions In Years
With Stowe, Vermont’s Mt. Mansfield experiencing an ever escalating nine-feet plus of early season “white gold”, the skiing and riding at Stowe Mountain Resort are second to none Also experiencing renewed early season vigor due to exceptional snowfall are off -mountain winter activities, Nordic skiing, dog sledding, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and sledding.
According to Ken Haggett, owner of Peace Pups Dogsledding,” This is the first time in my six years of dog sledding that I have been on a sled as early as December 1!”
Umiak Outfitter owner Steve Brownlee reports that the off trail snow conditions are fantastic. "We have back country telemark skiers coming in with tired smiles and reports of deep powder. Our snowshoe rentals are brisk, with people of all ages using them to roam the woods. We even had a group of college students playing Frisbee on snowshoes, telling tales of diving catches in the deep snow."
For the Nordic Ski buffs, Sam von Trapp, VP of Special Projects at Trapp
Family Lodge enthuses "With the combination of phenomenal early season snow and our new snowmaking system to add to our base we are anticipating one of our best Christmas/New Years in recent memory, and a season which should have no trouble lasting into April."
Stowe-ites know that to make friends with winter you have to get out and play in the snow. With another 6 inches of snow forecast, the time is right.
To quote Stowe Visitor Central Reservation Manager Susan Rousselle, ”Its exciting for us to be able to say ‘The snow is awesome, come on up!’”
