Two of the World’s Premier Tennis Nations
Face Off on July 14-15 in Rematch of 2005 Fed Cup Semifinal
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., JUNE 4, 2007 – The USTA today announced that tickets for the 2007
Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Semifinal between the U.S. and Russia at the Topnotch Resort and
Spa in Stowe, Vt., July 14-15, will go on sale Tuesday, June 5, at 10 a.m. ET.
Tickets will be sold as a two-day series with prices ranging from $35 to $225; VIP packages are
also available. Tickets can be purchased by calling (888) 334-USTA (8782). The match will be
played in a 3,000-seat venue constructed specially for this semifinal by the USTA, the event’s
organizer and promoter.
The two-day event features two premier tennis nations and could include several of the top
women’s players in the world. Among the possible participants are reigning Australian Open
champion Serena Williams, five-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams, the world’s No. 1
doubles player, Lisa Raymond, and Russian standouts Svetlana Kuznetsova, who is currently
ranked No. 3 in the world, and Nadia Petrova. The team captains have up until ten days prior
to the start of the semifinal to select their players.
The U.S. and Russia have met five times in Fed Cup play, with the U.S. leading the series, 4-1.
Russia won the most recent meeting, defeating the U.S. in the 2005 semifinals on the way to its
second consecutive -- and second-ever -- Fed Cup crown. The U.S. leads all nations with 17
Fed Cup titles, the most recent coming in 2000.
The best-of-five match series begins on July 14 with two singles matches and is followed by two
reverse singles matches and the doubles match on July 15. The tie will be played on an outdoor
hard court and represents the first Fed Cup to be held at the Topnotch Resort, which was
ranked #1 in the Northeast and as one of the Top 10 Best U.S. Tennis Resorts by Tennis
Magazine.
The Tennis Channel will present live daily coverage of the U.S. vs. Russia Fed Cup Semifinal.
