JUNE 6, 2007 STOWE, VT – The Helen Day Art Center and Craftproducers are combining forces to create a premier Stowe Summer Event. For many years The Helen Day Art Center hosted a successful culinary and art event, A Taste of Stowe. Craftproducers produced The Stowe Celebrates Summer Art and Craft Festival for three years. In 2007 the two events are combining to create a “must go to” event in Stowe.
THE NEW TASTE OF STOWE ARTS FESTIVAL will take place July 27 – 29 at Topnotch Field on RT 108 (Mountain Road) in Stowe, Vermont. Topnotch Field is located just a few miles north of the center of Stowe Village.
Anchored by Craftproducers Summer Art and Craft Festival, the weekend is loaded with fun-filled activities for the entire family. The actual “Craftproducers” tent will host 125 jury-selected artists and artisans. The exhibitors will display and sell wonderful products that they create, design and make. In an age dominated by globally produced mass goods, the artists are “locals” who generate handmade work and produce it in a sustainable manner. From the utilitarian coffee mug to the one of a kind kinetic metal sculpture, the artist/exhibitors offer a wide range of pottery, blown and stained glass, paintings, photography, leather, wood, furniture, clothing, metal, jewelry, and specialty foods and products.
Complementing the Craftproducers tent, Helen Day Art Center will host ART FOR ART’S SAKE. It is a visual feast of 2D artists including painters, print makers, photographers, and other 2D artists.
Beyond being a fabulous Art Festival, the NEW TASTE OF STOWE ARTS FESTIVAL embraces the culinary arts. The former TASTE OF STOWE has been revitalized and Stowe area restaurants will serve tastes from their menus in a special section of the Dining Tent from 11-3 daily. In addition to sampling these Epicurean delights, there will be chef demos daily at noon and two. Besides the “tasting” section, the Festival will offer delicious brick oven pizza and the usual array of Festival food.
Man cannot live by food alone so there is a wine tasting component. Wines will be paired with select menu items at the TASTE OF STOWE. Wine by the glass will also be available. Exotic boutique wines will be available so that the connoisseur can sample and discover new wines to buy.
Art, Craft, Food, Wine are joined by the musical arts as well. There will be intermittent musical acts performed throughout each day, including local band KJAM from Charlotte and the Vermont Suzuki Violins under the direction of Pam Reit.
At this date, there are many details to be worked out. To see the finalized version of the TASTE OF STOWE ARTS FESTIVAL, visit www.craftproducers.com or call the Stowe Area Association at 802.253.7321.
Adult admission is $8 and a weekend pass is $10. The event is tented and runs from ten to five Friday through Sunday. Presently, there are a few spaces for artists. If you are interested in exhibiting, contact Craftproducers at 802.425.3399.
