STOWE WINTER CARNIVAL: “THE STOWE MUST GO ON!”
Celebration of winter in this classic New England town
The 33rd Stowe Winter Carnival returns to chase away the winter blues from January 19-21, 2007 as Stowe, Vermont celebrates to the theme of “The Stowe Must Go On!”. Voted by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce as one of the Top 10 Winter Events for eight years running, Stowe Winter Carnival features captivating town-wide events for both kids and adults. A top attraction each year is the Nationally Sanctioned Ice Carving Competition preceded by demo carvings in front of area Stowe businesses.
On-snow events include the Stowe Super-G Schuss at Stowe Mountain Resort and SnowVolleyBall Tournament. Other activities include Kids’ Cross-Country Fun Races, Kids’ Karnival Kaos and the Vermont traditional Chicken Pie Supper served family style by the fellowship of the Stowe Community Church. Finally the Big Party: Village Night Celebration held on Main Street in the historic village of Stowe. Costumed characters boogie to the music and the evening is capped with fireworks. Adults can continue on to the Matterhorn nightclub to dance the night away.
Sunday morning, Vermont Ski Museum hosts the Warren Miller Movie Night as this legendary ski filmmaker unveils his 57th feature film, 2007’s “Off the Grid”
